Deodorants: products passed to the magnifying glass Deodorants. Up to what point are they of good quality? Which pose problem?
Certain summers, the sales turnover concerning the deodorants goes until increasing by 30%. It is not very surprising because the more the sun types, the more one perspires. However, nobody wishes to be inconvenienced by his own odor of perspiration, nor to importune the others with. This is why in periods of hot summer days, the deodorants leave like bread rolls. As regards deodorants, the difference in quality between the majority of the conventional products and the natural products or bios are very important. You will find all information relating to this subject (and especially on the ingredients which poses problem in the deodorants) in the heading „Sujets of the month “. You will also find my answer to the question there: do there exist deodorants bios which deserve this name?

This deodorant spray owes its action with a soft deodorant active agent, the citrate triethylic (Triethyl Citrate), associated with alcohol bio, a mixture of natural essential oils and with the sage bio extract (which limits sudation). The mixture of essential oils is declared under the total term of Perfume (Essential Oils) (see framed below). This preparation, exclusively made up of natural ingredients or natural origin, includes/understands also glycerin, an extract of black grape, oil of carthame and bisabolol, an active agent resulting from the camomile. A half not was removed during the appreciation because the list of the ingredients is written in so small characters that it is illegible. It can be deciphered only using one magnifying glass, and still, not without difficulties. I regard as a lack of consideration with respect to the purchaser that a manufacturer of certified cosmetic products does not print the list of the components in a readable way as that is prescribed. This deodorant spray owes its action with alcohol bio, a raw material bio made up (aloe will vera and oils essential eucalyptus) and with essential oils of lavender, lemongrass, Palmarosa and bitter orange. However, declaration INCI is not in the standards. The ingredients connected by the term “and” (and) should have been arranged in an decreasing order, according to the quantity present in the product. Besides that, the deodorant contains glycerin (a good care for the skin), an emulsifier of natural origin, and an agent of solubilization of natural origin. Being given the composition, it is not necessary to add a conservative. This spray him also with pump does not contain a propellent gas. |

| Like the watch of other examples, a deodorant containing the active agent soft deodorizer Triethyl Citrate can have a beneficial and soft action for the skin. Except if, as in this product, this active agent is associated with a highly reactive killer of bacteria (triclosan), with a problematic antioxydant (BHT) and with a component ethoxyl ((PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate). The principal ingredient, alcohol SD Alcohol 39-C, contains the diétyl phthalate, questioned for medical reasons. This substance is very often used in the deodorants to denature alcohol and to fix the odorous substances. He is criticized from a medical point of view because he can attack the protection mechanisms of the skin. Positive points: the extract of poplar, the active agent squalane, and the propellent gas nitrogen which does not pollute the environment. |

|
| This deodorant does it deserve its qualifcaif “for sensitive skins”? As in almost all the conventional deodorants, the principal ingredient after water is aluminum the hydrochlorate, an active agent deodorizing problematic. Two soft deodorant active agents are added to it (Triethyl Citrate und Ethyhexylglycerin). But there is also an organohalogen compound, the conservative Chlorohexidine Digluconate. This last is recommended as little for the sensitive skins as the aluminum hydrochlorate. The negative list is supplemented by three components ethoxyls. Moreover, it is impossible to deliver an opinion on the quality of the odorous substances declared under the term of Perfume (fragrance). Positive points: glycerin and the bisabolol, active agent resulting from the camomile. This product, either, does not contain a propellent gas to him. And the price is not given for only 30 ml! |

| CRITERIA Of APPRECIATION |
Criterion NR. 1: Active matters of the deodorants Which active matters the manufacturer does it employ? As the products show it, the manufacturers of cosmetic natural certified work with good of other raw materials that the manufacturers of conventional cosmetics. In my evaluation of the deodorants, the active matters used play a central role. The synthetic compounds of aluminum and certain bactericidal substances are particularly problematic.
|
Criterion NR. 2: problematic components Like other cosmetic products, the deodorants also contain very discussed components. For example the components ethoxyls, pollutants like the EDTA, and conservatives doubtful or suspected of being problematic. You will find in the heading „substances at the risk “of the extra informations on the polluting and potentially dangerous raw materials. |
Criterion NR. 3: the price By comparing the lists of components, you will be especially astonished by certain prices. The fact that the very cheap products are as good as those which are a little more expensive, is not inevitably verifiable with these examples. To buy in function and of quality and the price, it is carefully necessary to compare the products between them. |

Declaration of essential oils If one looks at certified deodorants Ecocert/Cosmebio and BDIH, one notes that certain manufacturers declare oils essential used in a total way, under the term of Perfume (Essential Oils) or Fragrance (Perfume). And this, without entering in detail because essential oils, if they separately are declared, lengthen list INCI substantially. Others, like the sprays déoodorants of Logona, indicate them only on one line Parfum (Essential Oils). If they were detailed, list INCI would be long because it is generally about a whole mixture of essential oils. One can know the exact composition of it while addressing to the manufacturer. The Logona firm indicated that it employed, for example, of essential oils of ylang-ylang, bergamot, natural vanilla, Palmarosa and cedar.
